BERNIES BOYS
BAND BIO
Bernies Boy's is a Texas party band. Members of the band may
vary from party to party depending on who's throwing the party and the situation, but
there are a few constants that have always been with the band. One of which is fun.
Whenever the Boy's play there will be a great time with lots of fun and good times.
Another constant is that you will hear a mix of rock, blues, traditional and new country.
If its one of your favorites or a toe tapping get you excited type of song there is a
great chance the Boy's will play it. Over the years the Boy's have created a play list
that may last for hours in several different musical genres. While always playing music
the Boy's have written many songs which are crowd favorites whenever they are played.
These are some of the songs on this website today. These first 12 songs and their videos
while not big time professionally produced were written and produced by Alan Lee Jackson
with a real desire to show the fun the Boy's have had over the years just playing music.
When asked one time why the Boy's rarely charge money to play a gig, Ronald Jackson
answered, whenever we take money to play we feel like we have to be too serious, it takes
some of the pure fun out of it.
Bernies Boy's are Alan Lee Jackson, Ronald Jackson, Jake
Jackson, other family members and lifelong friends who are linked to Bernie Jackson in one
way or another. Bernie is the father of Alan Lee, Ronald, Denise and Jimmy Jackson. All of
whom have contributed to these songs and their videos in some way. Bernie Jackson plays
the drums and sings for a traditional country band in central Texas. Alan Lee and Ronald
are Bernies sons, we like to rock and roll or play Texas blues, but when we were little we
wanted to watch Saturday night wrestling, Bernie would make us watch all these traditional
country music shows like Porter Wagoner or the Wilburn Brothers as a stipulation to
watching wrestling, we truly grew up listening to all types of music. Jake Jackson is Alan
Lees son and Jake is an amazing drummer. Jake is currently playing professional baseball
after 4 years of college baseball where he set several batting records at the University
of Texas in Dallas. We can't get Jake whenever we want him on drums so we record with him
whenever we can. When he is finished with his baseball career he could have a great career
as a professional drummer.
While the Boy's have different careers they get together often to
just play music or have some awesome parties. We play together, we party together, we hunt
and fish together, we watch Nascar together and Jake and Alan Lee still talk about girls
together. We really are a family that plays together. Alan Lee explains, when we were very
little my mother who is now in a band with angels would play guitar and sing to us, she
was awesome.
Patricia was her name and she could play any musical
instrument put in her hands. She could sing like an angel and she could yodel. She could
have been a superstar in the music world, but she chose to be a superstar mom. She raised
4 on the go kids who were into music, sports, and the opposite sex. She did it all. I
remember her sitting us down in the living room and playing gospel songs to us like Old
Rugged Cross or Patsy Cline songs. She was probably just getting us to settle down but she
was truly inspiring. Bernie would have her teach us Hank Williams or George Jones songs
and we still love them today, but something happened. According to Alan Lee, one day I had
a radio playing and they played Elvis Presley singing Hound Dog. I couldn't sit still, it
was awesome and soon after that the Beatles came out with the Rubber Soul album and rock
and roll became my only interest.
I started using Mom's guitar (which I still have today) and I
learned the guitar part to Day Tripper by the Beatles and all my friends always asked me
to play it. Younger brother Ronald also started playing guitar and we soon were playing
all the hits on late 1960's and early 1970's radio. From then on it was party time.
We have since raised families, taught our kids to play, had
careers, had parties, had new family members, deaths in the family, divorces, and all
things that today's families seem to go through, but we still have each other and we still
play music together. These first 12 songs are a mixture of our times and our musical
tastes. These 12 songs were written by Alan Lee Jackson who also plays all guitars,
keyboards, and does the vocals. Ronald Jackson plays the bass guitar on Texas (You're my
home) and (Them kind of people can) Kiss my ass. Jake Jackson plays drums on Texas, and
Kiss my ass. Longtime family friend Dana Bennet plays fiddle on Would mama be as proud of
me. All videos and still pictures were taken and put together by Alan Lee Jackson. Brett
Kirby helped with the video of Sitting in the Highway. We hope you enjoy the songs and
videos and hope you can feel the fun we had making them. Keep checking the website as we
will add new songs from time to time and plan to add 12 more songs as a group within the
next year.
Parties can last all weekend. Go through several drummers, except when Jake is there. Can Play anything live, like Karaoke with live band.
